Straight Talk Internet on the go

For those that would like the ability to take your internet on the go, the Straight Talk Hotspot is jus the thing to give you the flexibility you want.  If you have a laptop, iPad, or phone, you know the benefits of using WiFi (FREE) WiFi and it’s great.  Free WiFi is great until you go somewhere that doesn’t offer it.

The solution for this is to have your own personal hotspot from Straight Talk.  It offers internet anywhere there is Verizon coverage (which is pretty big) and from what we believe, the price is going to be very nice.  While the speeds won’t be as great, just knowing that you can turn on your portable internet almost anywhere is worth the $30-$40 (or less) a month.

Added security is also a nice incentive for the Straight Talk hotspot.  Although, nothing is 100% secure, you can customize your passkey to be very complex or you can be nice and share it up to four connections.  Keep in mind though, the more connections are made, the slower the hotspot will be.

Simply set the hotspot somewhere high with a clear line of sight and you will have your portable hotspot ready in seconds.  Straight Talk is mostly a Walmart brand however the hotspot will likely be available for internet purchases before Christmas 2013.

  1. IM wanting to get rid of my house phone and I have the straight talk cell phone.Does this hotspot cover my kindle, laptop.and iPad without a landline and do u have anything other that that I could get for wifi without a landline. Thanks

    • Yes, the hotspot does not require a landline at all as it has it’s own number. It would work for your devices but it will not be anywhere near as fast as say cable or fast dsl.

    • It can be used with any device that can connect to wifi. However, it may not be fast enough to keep up with gaming. If you have a good Verizon signal in your area then it may be ok.

  2. Is the Walmart “Straight Talk” HotSpot (Verizon NetWork) Transferable? (IE If you purchased a used one, I’m thinking that it’s
passcode could be changed to suit your need but would you have to know the existing one first that the person you are buying it from added to it ?) Also, does it have a SIM card which you could transfer to another HotSpot (such as the Pantech MHS291L) and still be able to use Straight Talk Refill cards ? Thank You

    • Sure, you can purchase a used one. Just be sure to get all the info and make sure the person selling it to you removes it from their account. These do not have SIMS so you cannot go out and buy another and use it with the Straight Talk service.

  3. WHY DOES THE STRAIGHT TALK HOTSPOT SAY THAT IT USES “VERIZON” TOWERS (WHICH SHOW COVERAGE IN “RED”) BUT WHEN YOU GET READY TO BUY A DATA PLAN CARD, IT SHOWS “AT&T” COVERAGE (WHICH IS “BLUE”)…WHICH COVERAGE/TOWER DOES IT ACTUALLY USE?

    • I’m not sure whey you come up with this because it is impossible for this device to use AT&T as it is of the CDMA technology. There are only 2 major CDMA carriers in the US they are Verizon and Sprint. AT&T is GSM hence this device could never work with that carrier.
